I have been asked by numerous people how to get the Win 10 update if they did not preregister or if the update is simply not coming for them. Well it can be done, and here’s how…..
- Make sure your machine is fully updated, go into Windows Update and double check.
- Go to this link https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
- Download the proper tool (32 or 64 bit) If you do not know press Windows Key + Pause/Break, this will bring up the system view where it will say 32 bit operating system or 64.
- Run the tool and select ‘Upgrade this machine’
If you experience the error message ‘Something happened’, don’t panic, there is still hope.
Go to language and settings and set everything to ‘English- United States’ including your locale. This will require a reboot and then starting at step 2 you should be able to do the upgrade.
I hope this works for everyone looking to get Win 10. It should work just fine if your copy of Windows is legitimate and you are current with Windows updates.
